Livestock Census
Livestock census is conducted across the country once in every five years and it encompasses several activities to be carried out within the stipulated time frame. The first livestock census was conducted during the year 1919-20. The latest 20th Livestock Census was conducted during the year 2019. The livestock census is 100% funded by the Union Government.

- As per the 20th Livestock Census, Tamil Nadu ranks 1st in Poultry, 4th in Sheep, 7th in Goats, 13th in Cattle and 14th in Buffalo population in the country.
- 21th Livestock Census will be conducted during the year 2024-25.
