- New infrastructural facilities with modern facilities will be established and the unit will be expanded to breed and protect indigenous dog breeds in Saidapet Dog Breeding Unit in Chennai district.
- Karyotyping of the cells of indigenous dog breeds like Rajapalayam, Kanni, Chippiparai and Kombai will be carried out and the best purebred indigenous dog breeds (6 female and 2 male dogs of each breed) will be procured, bred and preserved.
Outcome
As per the Animal Welfare Board (AWBI) norms, breeding is allowed once a year, so the expanded kennel can produce an average of 100 puppies from 24 female dogs. The average selling price of a puppy is Rs.7000/-. So through this segment can earn a total income of 7.00 lakhs (Rs.7000x100) as a result of selling puppies to the public.
